    Develops agricultural markets, thereby enabling trade and improving lives worldwide. The U.S. Grains Council is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to building and maintaining the use of U.S. corn, barley, sorghum, and associated products in the international marketplace. Founded in 1960, the council is funded through membership contributions from farmer checkoff organizations, agribusinesses, state entities, and others. These resources trigger Federal matching funds and support from cooperating groups in other countries, producing an annual market development program valued at approximately $28 million. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the council has nine international offices, consultants in 15 countries, and programs in more than 50 countries.
